Causes of Hair Loss in Women

By Online Journal of Al at 2009-10-15 13:09:52
When you think of hair loss it's natural to assume that it's a condition that predominantly affects men. Some experts however suggest that as many as one in four women will experience hair loss at some time in their lives. So why don't we see and hear more about it? Perhaps the answer has something to do with one or more of the following:

In women, medical professionals refer to this as "female pattern hairloss," a broad term indicating that many other causes are also related to this condition. These include other enzymes, blockers, and hormone receptors. Since it is diffuse, female pattern baldness encircles the top of the head, and enzyme and hormone receptor sites vary throughout the scalp.

This is called female pattern hair loss, a broad term that indicates how a lot of other causes may also be related to this particular condition, such as hormones receptors, blockers, and other enzymes.

Another cause of female hair loss is called traction alopecia. This is a fairly unusual condition. It is usually caused by people who style their hair using ponytails or cornrows. Ponytails and cornrows are of course completely harmless hairstyles, except when their wearers or their creators pull on their locks with excessive force.

Certain diseases and prescription drugs can lead to balding; for instance the chemotherapy administered to cancer patients cause their hair to fall off.

Poor diet can also lead to this condition. Women who are having a strict diet and want to rapidly change their weight can experience a temporary loss of hair. This is because they are lacking some nutrients such as protein, zinc, fatty acids, or vitamins, which we can get from food consumption.

Women also create testosterone in their bodies but for the majority of their lives the estrogen they produce keeps it under control. The problem starts to occur when there is not as much estrogen being produced because this means that there is more free testosterone in the blood, which then leads to higher amounts of DHT which in turn leads to hair loss.

Another cause of falling hair in women is caused by a condition known as alopecia areata. Here white blood cells start attacking hair follicles, which then start getting smaller and smaller. After a few months of the onset of this condition, the hairs stop growing completely.

Although baldness is more researched and discussed because of its effects on the male culture, it is an epidemic among women. The causes of hair loss in women are far ranging but the above topics shed light on some of the most common reasons women experience baldness.

Hormonal imbalances can also cause thinning of the hair. When a woman's hormones are thrown out of the proper balance, it can knock the entire body out of sync, which can lead to extreme hair loss.

Additionally, Provillus For Women provides needed scalp stimulation to revive damaged or even dead hair follicles so that they once again grow hair naturally. This product works in the early stages of hair loss or in the advanced stages. Below you'll find links to the site for more information on Provillus hair loss treatment.
